Weekloop vs. Canva

Design it yourself or have it designed? A fair comparison.

Canva is a very good tool for designing things yourself, and it includes a planner that schedules finished designs to social channels. Weekloop starts one step earlier: Spark plans your marketing every week, creates the content from your brand profile and puts it in front of you for approval.

The core difference

With Canva you design yourself: you decide what gets made and create every design. Weekloop works like a virtual marketing department: it proposes what is due this week, creates the content and waits for your approval.

Planning

With Canva’s Content Planner you schedule finished designs to channels such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn or Pinterest. You decide what gets made and when. Scheduled AI tasks are marked “Coming Soon” on the Canva AI 2.0 page; according to the Canva help center they repeat daily, weekly or monthly, up to ten at a time, but are not yet available in every account. In Weekloop, Spark proposes topics, channels and formats every week and emails you the plan.

Trends and your own ideas in the weekly plan

Spark includes current industry and search trends in every weekly plan, mixes your collected ideas into its proposals and sticks to the priorities you set. That way the plan fits what people are looking for right now and what you have planned yourself.

Spark thinks along

In the Spark chat you work on your topics with Spark as you would with a marketing colleague. Spark suggests what makes sense next, creates a complete weekly plan on request and turns your photos into a finished post or a video. Before Spark creates or publishes anything, it asks you.

Design

For free-form design, Canva is strong: you work with templates in the editor and use AI features that Canva groups under the name Canva AI. Weekloop creates images, carousels, posters and flyers automatically in your brand look, from your real photos if you like. Hands-on fine-tuning remains Canva’s strength.

Control every image precisely

In the Social Studio you see the image prompt of every image and every carousel slide. You change it, choose the image model, such as GPT Image from OpenAI or Gemini from Google, and regenerate only the slide that is not right yet. Weekloop keeps adding new image and video models.

Copy, blog and newsletter

Weekloop writes SEO blog articles, newsletters, captions and Google Business posts as part of the weekly plan and sends newsletters directly. Canva also includes AI writing features; its focus is on design, and according to the Canva help center you design emails in Canva and send them through services such as Gmail, Outlook or Mailchimp.

Videos with scenes, voice and music

According to its website, Canva’s “Create a Video Clip”, powered by Google’s Veo-3, generates one clip of up to eight seconds in 16:9 per prompt, and Canva offers a video editor with templates. Weekloop builds commercials and explainer spots from several scenes, with a voice-over and music under the voice. The voice track comes first, then the length of every scene follows the spoken text, so no sentence gets cut off. Templates such as “Benefits first” or “Product in focus” define the flow, and Post Production (beta) edits your own videos automatically.

Publishing and approval

Canva schedules finished designs via the Content Planner, one design per platform. Weekloop puts every proposal into the Spark Inbox and only publishes to your connected channels after your approval.

Both together

The tools do not exclude each other. Weekloop delivers plan, copy and drafts; download single images when needed and keep designing them in Canva.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use Weekloop alongside Canva?

Yes. Weekloop handles planning, copy and drafts. Download single images when needed and keep editing them in Canva.

Does Weekloop replace Canva?

Not necessarily. If you design a lot by hand, you will keep valuing Canva. Weekloop mainly takes over the weekly planning and production of your marketing content.

What happened to Canva Teams?

According to Canva, the Canva Teams plan no longer accepts new sign-ups. Canva offers Canva Business as its successor (as of 18 October 2026).

Does Weekloop publish automatically?

Only after your approval, and only to channels you have connected yourself. The autonomous weekly plan and publishing after approval are included in the Business and Creator plans.
